• Artist's statement

This work is a brief insight into my father's travels as a young man, a time, which was full of many 'colourful' anecdotes and artifacts. Within this work I have merely scratched the surface to his artifacts and narratives, which intentionally give the viewer a sense of mysticism and suggestion of a man who lived and slept under the makeshift tent, with only the seven objects as his only belongings. Therefore the story is encouraged by the original presentation of the work in which the emphasis is on the camp image. This is due to the camp image's larger print size, which suggests the relation of the objects to the camp itself. The work allows the viewer the space to imagine this man's world rather than the work being too prescriptive in describing or forcing each object into a drawn out meaning.
